The Icelandic budget airline WOW air has announced it will be adding Vancouver on Canada's Pacific Coast to its route map. The airline will offer six flights each week, the first flight being scheduled for June 6.

Last week WOW air announced it was discontinuing its service to three cities in the US Midwest, St. Louis, Cincinnati and Cleveland. The airline had only offered flights to the three cities since May of this year. According to Skúli Mogensen, the CEO of WOW air the demand did not meet the expectations of WOW, forcing the airline to refocus its route network. Skúli promised WOW would be adding other new destinations in North America, as the airline is planning to expand its service by 15% in 2019.
The decision to add Vancouver to the route network is primarily based on the airline's past success in Canada. Last week the local news site turisti.is predicted WOW air might be adding Seattle or Las Vegas to its route map.
