A spokesman for WOW air told the local newspaper Fréttablaðið that the decision had been necessary to cope with growth which left WOW air call centres which had been struggling to keep up with increasing demand for assistance, especially from growing numbers of foreign customers. The new call centre will also be able to offer service around the clock.

WOW air has not closed down its service centre in Iceland, and Icelandic customers will still be able to speak to an Icelandic service representative, the WOW air spokesman assured Fréttablaðið. The Icelandic call centre will be able to assist Icelandic customers and answer calls from foreign customers during its opening hours.
