Workers digging the 500 metre (1,640 ft) long ice tunnel into Langjökull glacier have stumbled upon yet another crevasse, located deep within the ice cap. The huge crevasse runs right across the tunnel and will be incorporated into the unique experience of the ice cave.

In an interview with Fréttablaðið, supervisor Kjartan Þorbjörnsson says the men do not fear being engulfed by the massive glacier. “On the contrary, they find the task to be thrilling,” he said.
Langjökull is located in west Iceland and is the country’s second largest ice cap, second only to the vast Vatnajökull. The tunnel is the brainchild of various travel companies operating on the glacier and engineering company Efla and is due to open in June.
