Negotiations between Iceland's Aviation Workers Association and Administration (Isavia) are at standstill. This means that a five-hour work stoppage will be staged at every airport in Iceland, domestic and international, between 4am and 9am on Wednesday April 23.
Icelandair has already changed its flight schedule. The airline posted this message on it website tonight:
Due to strike action at Keflavik International Airport schedule changes will be made on our flights departing from America tonight 22nd and for flights from and to Keflavik Airport tomorrow 23rd. Messages notifying estimated departure time will be sent to all mobile numbers and e-mails we have available from our passengers.
Check-in will start at 09:00 at Keflavik Airport and therefore flight to Europe will depart between 10:00 and 11:00, depends on how fast check-in and security search will go.
The strike will affect our flights and they will delay all arriving and departing flights at our hub at Keflavik International Airport 23rd of April for approximately 3-4 hours, but no cancellations are planned. We will work around the situation to best serve our passengers and we realize this will disrupt some travel plans.
