On the farm Forsæti in Flóahreppur district in South Iceland, one will find the small art gallery Tré og list. The gallery is run by husband and wife Ólafur Sigurjónsson and Bergþóra Guðbergsdóttir, who claim the gallery’s most popular piece is a beautiful wood carving of a pregnant woman.

Ólafur told Channel 2 news that visitors are often left breathless when they see the work of art. The wood carving was made by Sigríður Jóna Kristjánsdóttir, known locally as Sigga á Grund, who modelled it after a young, pregnant woman from the area. The artist says the piece, called Móðir or Mother, represents the circle of life.
