The foreign tourist who suffered a fatal hiking accident in Kirkjufell mountain on Friday was a 43 year old Polish woman, local news site Mbl.is reports. The woman fell 50 meters in sheer cliffs.
The woman's name was Agata Bornikowski, born 1974. She was travelling in Iceland with her husband and another couple, according to information provided by ICE-SAR.

Three of them climbed the mountain on Friday. The accident happened in the southern slopes of Kirkjufell mountain near the town of Grundarfjörður in Snæfellsnes peninsula in West Iceland.
The Coast Guard's rescue helicopter was sent to the scene and the crew managed to heave the woman aboard. She was brought to a hospital in Reykjavík but she succumbed to her injuries.
