People living in the capital woke up this morning to the first snow of winter. According to the National Broadcasting Service, RÚV, snowfall began at 3 am this morning. All of the city‘s winter service department began to clear and spread de-icing salt onto all major roads half an hour later, at 3.30 am.
“We always start with clearing all bus routes. By 9 am all major roads had been cleared,” explains Þröstur Ingólfur Víðisson, project manager with the city’s winter service.
The police advice motorists to show caution while driving today as roads can be slippery.
