Heavy rain will continue in the south and west this weekend, according to the IMO.

Today, Friday, will be cloudy with heavy rain in south, west and the Westfjords but clearing late tonight. The north and northeast will be dry through the day and night with some clear spells and warmer temperatures. Minimum temperature 1 degree Celsius (33.8 Fahrenheit) in the Strandir region, north Westfjords.

Saturday: Heavy rain in the south and the west but clearing later in the afternoon in the southeast with some bright spells developing. Strong southwesterly winds will pick up in southeast regions in the early morning but will ease by late evening. The north and the east will remain dry. Maximum temperature 8 degrees Celsius (46 Fahrenheit).

Sunday: Heavy rain or sleet will continue in all parts of the country except for the north and the east. Brisk southeasterly winds developing in the south towards evening, becoming strongest in exposed areas where individual gusts can reach up to 21 metres per second (47 mph/77 km per hour). Maximum temperature 8 degrees Celsius (46 Fahrenheit).
