The summer arrived in Iceland this week and the weekend weather will be fair and mild around the island. The weather gods will be especially kind to those who live or are travelling in North and East Iceland.

According to The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) the mercury will climb highest in and around Egilsstaðir town in East Iceland, or up to 20 degrees Celsius (68 F), on Saturday and in Akureyri town in North Iceland it should reach 17 C (63 F).

It will not be as “balmy” in the capital at 14 C (55 F), but we do not complain while the temperature is in double digits and there is a good change of seeing some sun.
