Strong, driving winds continue to lash the south coast. Individual gusts of wind are expected to reach 25 metres per second (56 mph/90 km per hour) near the Eyjafjöll mountain range and in the Vestmannaeyjar Islands. Winds will begin to subside tonight.

The day will remain overcast but dry in most parts but snow or sleet may affect the southeast. Maximum temperature 6 degrees Celsius (43 Fahrenheit).

Saturday: A cold and cloudy day with occasional snowfall in the eastern parts of the country. A brisk northeasterly wind in the south, reaching up to 13 metres per second (29 mph/47 km per hour). Maximum temperature 4 degrees Celsius (39 Fahrenheit) in the Vestmannaeyjar Islands.

Sunday: It will be a cloudy start to the day before it clears later in the afternoon. Temperatures will range between -15 degrees Celsius (5 Fahrenheit) in the west to 2 degrees Celsius (35.6 Fahrenheit) in the Vestmannaeyjar Islands in the south.

Monday: A cloudy day in most parts of the country with showers of snow affecting all regions except the east and southeast, which will remain sunny. Temperatures will remain low, ranging between -15 to -4 degrees Celsius (5-25 Fahrenheit).
