Heavy rain is expected in South Iceland and the Eastfjords on Saturday according to a warning issued by the Icelandic Met Office (IMO). People should be on the alert for overflowing rivers and mudslides in the area.
We can however expect a much-improved weather around the country on Sunday, calm winds and clear skies.
IMO’s forecast

Saturday: South strong breeze or near gale in the Southeast Iceland, but lighter winds elsewhere. Rain or considerable rain, but mostly dry in West Iceland. West and Northwest winds 8-15 m/s in the night.
Temperature 8 to 14 C (46-55 F) during the day.
Sunday: Southwest 3-10 m/s (7-22 mph/11-36 km/h) and partly fair weather, but southeast 8-15 (18-34 mph/29-54 km/h) and starting to rain in the southwest part of the country during the evening. Temperature 7 to 13 C (45-55 F) during the day.
