Webcams show no visible change in activity in Holuhraun 1429

The volcanic activity in Holuhraun lava field, North Iceland, continues at a steady rate, according to the Icelandic Met Office. Webcam observations show no visible change in activity since yesterday with effusive lava eruption and fountains.

Geologist Pálmi Erlendsson describes last night’s events as relatively calm. The biggest earthquake detected was 3.1 in magnitude and located in the northern part of the magma intrusions. Some seismic activity extended under the glacier rim.
