Weather warning: The season of the storm conveyor belt 5277

10. apr 2016 15:10

Sorry guys, but the Icelandic Met Office (IMO) has issued yet another warning this week. We are truly in the season of the storm conveyor belt. According IMO strong gale is expected by the southwest and west coast tomorrow and in the highlands. That is a 9 on the Beaufort wind force scale, meaning conditions when some branches cane break off trees, and some small trees blow over.

Please keep in mind that on roads close to mountains the burst of wind can greatly exceed IMO's forecast of wind speed.

IMO’s forecast
Southerly wind, 8-15 m/s (18-34 mph/29-54 kmh) in the afternoon. Showers of rain in the south and west part but partly cloudy and mostly dry in the northeast. Increasing southeasterly wind tonight, 10-23 (22-51 mph/36-83 km/h) tomorrow, strongest wind by the southwest and west coast with rain later tomorrow. Temperatures 7 to 16 degrees C (45-61 F) mildest in the northeast.

Thursday: Southeast 10 to 15 m/s (22-34 mph/ 36-54 km/h) and considerable rain in the south and west early in the day, then rain showers. Fair in the northeast. Temperature 7 to 16 degrees C (45-61 F) warmest in the northeast.
