The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued a weather warning for the Central Highlands for tomorrow: Strong gale force winds, with wind speeds exceeding 20 m/s or 47 mph, are expected in the central highlands tomorrow. Please adjust your plans accordingly.

Other parts of Iceland are also expected to experience strong winds, ranging from strong breeze (10 m/s / 25 mph) to a fresh gale (18 m/s 39 mph). Significant rain in South and West Iceland, where the wind is also expected to be most severe. The temperature is expected to rise, and the combination of rain and higher temperatures should be enough to melt away any snow and ice in most of Western and Southern Iceland.

The weather conditions in the south and west will bring with them a heavy cloud cover, making it virtually impossible to spot any aurora.

East Iceland is expected to see calmer winds and less precipitation, as well as a lighter cloud cover. The best chance of capturing the aurora tomorrow should therefore also be in the East.
