After weeks of unseasonably balmy temperatures and weather Icelanders are used to experience during spring, we are finally going to get a taste of winter. The Icelandic Meteorological Office is forecasting that the next few days will see falling temperatures and snow in all parts of Iceland.
Today the temperature will be around freezing. A north-easterly fresh breeze 10-20 m/s (22-45 mph), strongest in the South East of Iceland, with lighter winds in the West and North West. The wind speed will die down over the day. Sleet or snow in the south and snowshowers in the north west and western parts of Iceland.
Tomorrow and Thursday the temperature will remain hover at or above freezing, 0-7°C (32-44.6°F) coldest inland in the northeast.
On Friday the winds will again pick up from the southeast with a strong gale, 18-23 m/s (40-51 mph). The temperature will rise slowly during the day, with rain or sleet in the south where temperatures will be above freezing, but snow in other parts of the country.
