The 26th Söngkeppni framhaldsskólanna, an annual song contest between Icelandic grammar schools, took place on Saturday. Representatives for Menntaskólinn í Hamrahlíð, one of Reykjavík’s many grammar schools, took home first place.
Elín Sif Halldórsdóttir, Guðrún Ólafsdóttir and Hrafnhildur Magnea Ingólfsdóttir, who together formed the band Náttsól (Night Sun), performed a beautiful cover of Björk’s Hyperballad.
Fjölbrautarskóli Vesturlands in Akranes, West Iceland, landed in second place while Menntaskólinn á Laugarvatni, South Iceland, came third.
