Watch presidential candidate dance and play the cowbell on stage with local indie band 4984

At a fundraising concert on Wednesday night at the downtown bar and concert venue Húrra, presidential candidate Andri Snær Magnason, took to the stage to dance and perform with local indie band FM Belfast, showing off his awesome cowbell skills. The video of the event has gone viral on Icelandic social media – for good reason!

Andri Snær who is also a best-selling author and one of Iceland’s best known environmental activists, has been polling between 10% and 12% in recent polls. But judging by the lineup of Wednesday’s concert Andri Snær enjoys support from the Icelandic pop scene. Among the acts were the king of Icelandic pop, the former punk rocker Bubbi Morthens and KK Band, Iceland’s most beloved folk bands. By the time FM Belfast, an up-and-coming indie rock band, took to the stage Andri Snær decided he had to join the fun, grabbing a cowbell and dancing with the band onstage.

No word yet if history professor, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, who is currently leading in the polls with nearly 60% support, is as good a dancer or as skilled with the cowbell as Andri Snær.
