German filmmaker Tobi Schnorpfeil and four friends visited Iceland in October, using the opportunity to create a short video of what Iceland looks like in the fall. Tobi and his friends spent two weeks exploring as much of the island as they could, trying to venture off the beaten path and visit corners of the island frequently ignored by foreign visitors. The group rented a car and set off driving the ring-road clockwise around Iceland.
Originally Tobi had planned to shoot aerial footage with a drone, but thanks to the winds he could not use the drone as much as he had planned: The weather really challenged me on this project as it was incredibly windy. But the group managed to make every second count, Tobi adds.

In the west the group added Snæfellsnes peninsula and the Westfjords to their itinerary, allowing them to visit Snæfellsjökull glacier and the beautiful fjords and small fishing villages of the Westfjords. Tobi told Iceland Insider that spending a few extra days to explore the Westfjords was really worth it: The thing that surprised me the most where the westfjords I think. The road condition was an adventure and there where literally no people at all! We also saw whales and lots of seals from the road.
The music and poem are made by Tobi's friends, Jan Metan (composer) and Will Doer (screenwriter) to create a more holistic piece of work.
The video is a beautiful poetic exploration of the best Iceland has to offer in the fall!
