Heads up if you are travelling in East or Southeast Iceland! The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) has issued a warning. Due to heavy rain in the area there is increased risk of elevated river levels and mud flows. If you are in North Iceland or the Westfjords IMO expects quite strong wind in the afternoon and later tonight.

IMO's forecast
Northeast wind 8-18 m/s (18-40 mph/29-65 kmh), strongest in the southeast with rain or considerable rain. Increasing wind and rain in the north after noon, northeast 10-18 (22-40 mph/36-65 kmh) in the northwest by evening. Lighter winds and less precipitation in the southwest. Decreasing wind and rain in the afternoon, first in the SE and E part. Temperature 6 to 13 degrees C (43-55 F).

Friday Southerly wind 8-15 (18-34mph/29-54 kmh) and light rain over night, but calmer wind tomorrow. Showers in the south and east, but mostly dry in the north and becoming warmer there.
