Avalanche danger level high is for several areas in Iceland. The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) has issued a warning for the northern part of the Westfjords, for Tröllaskagi peninsula in North Iceland and for the East Fjords.
However no homes have been evacuated but travel in travel in the backcountry of these areas should be avoided for the time being.
A high danger level means that triggering is likely from low additional loads (such as a skier) on many steep slopes and numerous medium to large-sized natural avalanches can be expected.
