Heavy rain is expected to continue in South Iceland today according to a warning from The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) and strong gales, or more than 20 m/s (45 mph/72 km/h) are forecasted in the central highlands.
So travel conditions will be tough to say the least in those areas. The southwest part of the central are mostly closed due rising river levels and muddy highland roads. According to IMO river levels will continue to rise in South Iceland until midnight on Friday.
However the forecast for the weekend weather is looking much better.
