The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) has just issued a warning to travellers. Freezing rain is expected in West Iceland today (Friday) making roads super slippery. Freezing rain is when precipitation lands on surface with temperatures below freezing.
It's the worst type of winter precipitation as the raindrops freeze instantly upon impact with the surface and form an icey glaze making roads and pavements very difficult to cross. Be extra careful if you are travelling in the area today.
