After a glorious weekend around the island we are happy to report that The Icelandic Met Office’s weather forecast for the next few days is rather splendid. It will be calm, mostly dry and the sun should break through the light cloud cover.
On days like this you can almost see the grass grow and the foliage of trees explode into their summer version.
We remind our readers, who are travelling or planning to travel around Iceland in the next few days, that highlands roads are almost all closed. See expected opening dates here.
Due to the rising temperatures roads and vegetation in the highlands are in a vulnerable state and can be easily damaged. The snow is melting fast and the frozen earth is thawing so even just walking can inflict long lasting scars on the ground.
As always we ask all readers to help us in treating Iceland’s environment with care and respect.
