Volcanic eruption and New Year's Eve bonfires visible from space 2198

The volcanic eruption in Holuhraun and bonfires lit all over Iceland on New Year’s Eve, are clearly visible in a photograph from the The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), an American agency focused on the condition of the oceans and the atmosphere.

The National University‘s Institue of Eearth Science published the photograph on their Facebook page yesterday, reports RÚV. Among the bonfires visible on the image are ones in Hornafjörður, Eyrarbakki, Reykjavík and Akranes.
