The three sailors will remain in custody
The three sailors who have been arrested will remain in custody, the local news site Vísir reports. Police believes they have information about the disappearance of young local woman, Birna Brjánsdóttir, who disappeared on Saturday morning. Circumstantial evidence points to crew members of the Polar Nanoq being connected to her disappearance.

Birna has not been seen since Saturday morning when she left a downtown bar at 5 AM. What happened after she was last seen has been pieced together from reports in the media and announcements from the Police. Police believes that Birna entered a car on Laugavegur, and to have then been taken to Hafnarfjörður, a suburban municipality of Reykjavík. Evidence points to the car having been a red Kia Rio rented to crew members of the Greenlandic trawler.

The driver of the car can be seen behaving suspiciously in security camera footage from the Hafnarfjörður harbour where the Greenlandic trawler was docked, and on footage from a security camera at the parking lot of a nearby golf-club. Police has told media they have more video footage which they are still analyzing. Birna's shoes were also found close to where the ship was docked. The local newspaper Fréttablaðið reports that no other signs of Birna have been found. Police and members of ICE-SAR have conducted extensive searches the Hafnarfjörður harbour area and several nearby recreational areas, lava fields and lakes to search for Birna or clues of what happened to her. Nothing has been found.
