Local residents around Mývatn lake in North Iceland have been treated to a steady diet of car chases, explosions and gunshots for the past few days, as film crews working on the latest instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise have been shooting stunt scenes on the frozen lake. A recently released video shows a small armada of trucks, SUV’s and snowmobiles charge across the ice, with gunshots ringing out in the background.

According to the local news site visir.is nearly a hundred members of the movie crew are currently camped out by the lake. Later this spring the team will move south, to the fishing town of Akranes, where more car chases will be shot on the harbour and around an abandoned cement factory.
