Iceland will play an important scene in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, as events taking place North of the Wall will be crucial to the unfolding of the popular fantasy saga. The seventh season will air in July, later than initially scheduled. The reason for the delay was the unusually warm winter in Iceland, as the film crew had to wait for more snow to complete their shooting in Iceland.
The film crews were in Iceland in January, shooting scenes at Svínafellsjökull glacier, in Reynisfjara black sand beach and by Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. This was the fifth time film crews for Game of Thrones come to Iceland.
