The woman who died following a violent attack on Thursday evening was a 44 year old Latvian woman by the name of Sanita Braune, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police. Sanita had three children. None of Sanita's family members live in Iceland.
Yesterday we reported that Sanita had lived in Iceland for several years, working as a cleaner at various hotels and guesthouses in Iceland. She was well liked by everyone who knew her in Iceland.

Sanita was the victim of a violent attack on Thursday evening. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the National University Hospital. The attack took place in an apartment where Sanita lived with two other flatmates, a foreign woman who is attending the University of Iceland and a young Icelandic man. She had at some point had a brief personal relationship with the attacker, a foreign man in his 30s who has sought asylum in Iceland. The man is being held in custody as police completes its investigation.
