The US Embassy in Iceland has told the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service RÚV that Meisam Rafiei will not be allowed to enter the US to compete in an international Taekwondo competition in Las Vegas. Meisam, an Icelandic citizen who was born in Iran and has dual Icelandic Iranian citizenship, was ejected from a plane at Keflavík airport yesterday after cabin crew told him that they could not allow him onboard due to Donald Trump's executive order banning citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries from travelling to the US.

In a written statement to RÚV the embassy explains that there will be no exemptions for people with dual citizenship: No citizens of the seven affected countries will be allowed to enter the US, those with dual citizenship included.
