The US carrier United Airlines has announced it will commence direct flights between Newark airport in New York and Keflavík next spring. United will be the fourth airline to fly between the two destinations.

Reykjavík is one of four new European destinations of United. The other three are Zurich in Germany, Edinburgh in Scotland and Porto in Portugal.
Four airlines already offer flights between the two destinations.
The Icelandic airlines, Icelandair and WOW air, as well as the US airline Delta, already fly direct between Keflavík and New York.
United will offer its service daily during the summer and fall, its first flight being scheduled for the end of May and ending in early October. Departure from Newark will be at around 10:30 in the evening, landing in Reykjavík at ten minutes past eight the next morning. Return flights will be shortly before noon from Keflavík, landing at Newark at two in the afternoon.
