Two foreign travellers, a man and a woman, died in a head on collision between a passenger vehicle and a dump truck on the Golden Circle late yesterday afternoon. The driver of the truck and a passenger were taken to the hospital with non critical injuries. The Police have not released any information about the nationality or age of the people.

The accident took place at half past three yesterday afternoon on the road over Lyngdalsheiði heath, between Þingvellir National Park and the village of Laugarvatn in South Iceland. The road was closed to all traffic while the Police and first responders were working at the scene.
The two foreign travellers were driving a passenger vehicle when they collided with a dump truck coming from the opposite direction. The National Broadcasting Service reports that the conditions on the road were ideal when the accident took place. No snow or ice was on the road and visibility was good.
