The US comedian Kathy Griffin has announced she will be doing a stand-up comedy show in Reykjavík during her first world-tour. The stand-up show will take place in Harpa concert hall on November 29. According to the local news site Vísir Griffin is famous for her comedy routine and acting, having received several Grammy and Emmy awards.
Griffin's humor and antics have on several occasions made her the center of controversy. The most recent example is a photo with Griffin's posing, holding a prop which bore striking resemblance to the president of the US, Donald Trump. The photo of Griffin holding what looked like the severed head of Trump was interpreted by some conservatives and supporters of Trump as an incitement to violence. Griffin later removed the photo from the web.

Griffin is not the only comedian to hold a stand-up in Harpa in coming months. On Monday the UK comedian John Cleese announced that Reykjavík was one of the stops during his upcoming Last Time to See Me Before I Die tour. Cleese's stand up performance will take place in Harpa concert hall on May 17.
While Cleese has waded into current US politics, he did star in several commercials for the controversial and failed Icelandic bank Kaupþing.
