Gylfi Blöndal, with IceLimo Luxury Travel witnessed travellers walking on ice floats on Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon in South Iceland told the local news site visir.is that every almost time he comes to the lagoon over the winter months he witnesses travellers walking on the ice floats. On Sunday he photographed a group of travellers out on the lagoon. He told the local news site visir.is he has frequently seen people take their children out on the floats with them.

Gylfi told visir.is he was 99% sure the people in the pictures were travelling on their own, rather than as a part of a group or accompanied by a guide. All guides and drivers warn people of the danger at each location, including the Jökulsárlón lagoon, where people are warned not to venture onto the ice floats. The floats can easily shift or capsize, plunging people into the icy water.
