According to the National Broadcasting Service two men and a woman found themselves in a tight corner when their vehichle got stuck in Markarfljót river, South Iceland, yesterday. The trio were on their way to Þórsmörk nature reserve but decided to take a short cut by crossing Markarfljót river. As they entered the river water began to pour over the bonnet of the car and into the engine, leaving the car powerless and the passengers trapped inside.
Rescue units came to the passengers’ aid twenty minutes after they called for assistance. The travellers were wet and cold after the incident but otherwise unharmed.
