Traveller swept to sea at Reynisfjara beach found: 47 year old German woman airlifted to Reykjavík 201

Police in South Iceland reports that the traveller who was swept to sea at Reynisfjara beach, near Dyrhólaey peninsula in South Iceland, has been found. The traveller, a 47 year old German woman, was taken by helicopter to the emergency room of the National University Hospital in Reykjavík.

According to Police in South Iceland a distress call was received at 12:53 that a group of people was in distress at Reynisfjara beach. According to the initial report all but one of the travellers had been able to make it ashore. All available Police and Search and Rescue Units in South Iceland were immediately dispatched. The traveller who had been swept to sea was found at 14:01. 

UPDATED: The condition of the traveller has not been released.

The traveller was a 47 year old German woman, and the others in the group were her husband and two children. Her husband and children are being taken to Reykjavík by ambulance.
