Ölfusárbrú bridge in the town of Selfoss is also still closed to traffic, and will remain closed for the next few days while it is resurfaced. The bridge is scheduled to be reopened on August 20. Traffic along the Ring Road is rerouted to roads 34 and 39 to the south and roads 31, 359 and 30 to the north.
The Icelandic Road and Coastal Authorityis undertaking major road work and maintenance on the Ring Road on the eastern slope of Hellisheiði heath, called Kambarnir today. This is not the first time in recent days that travelers are told to expect delays on Hellisheiði heath, as the IRCA has been resurfacing parts of the heath. Today's road work is expected to last until midnight.
