According to the National Broadcasting Service, RÚV, a small number of tourists decided to ignore warnings and walk to the edge of Dyrahólaey peninsula, only a few metres from where Monday’s landslide fell.

More landslides are expected to occur in the area and, therefore, the Environmental Agency of Iceland decided to close off parts of the peninsula. Despite of this, a small group of tourists paid little regard to warnings and ventured right out to the peninsula’s edge, one even carelessly dangling his legs over the side.
We urge people to show caution if travelling to the area in the next days.
