Customs officers at Keflavík Airport detained a traveller who had frozen meat, Icelandic whiskey and seal oil in his luggage. The goods, valued at close to 100,000 ISK, turned out to have been stolen from an airport shop.

According to local news site Mbl.is, the man was a foreigner coming from Stockholm and claimed to be a tour guide. When questioned on the goods at the customs area, the man could not produce receipts for them. Customs officers said his subsequent explanations were varied and contradictory.

When compared with sales records from gourmet store Pure Food Hall, the goods were determined to have been stolen. The goods were confiscated and returned to the store. The store owners intend to press charges against the tour guide.
