It's a big week for Icelandic producer and musician Anton Kaldal Ágústsson who has just released his debut album Snapshots and is performing at the international music festival Sónar this Friday.

The Guardian has compared his music to like the long, drawn-out preamble to a Beloved or Pet Shop Boys track. Others have described it as subtly emotional electronica with ambient soundscapes, hushed vocals, and orchestral passages.

Anton performes and produces his music under the name Tonik Ensemble and vocal collaborators on Snapshots are Icelanders, Hörður Már Bjarnason, who has been part of the Tonik live set since 2012, Jóhann Kristinsson and Ragnhildur Gísladóttir, who lend her voice to legendary debut album Maxinquaye by trip hop musician Tricky, and Shipsi from Latvian band Instrumenti.

Snapshots is available as a CD, vinyl or as a digital download.
