Today at noon the weather is expected to begin to deteriorate in the south and south west as yet another storm bringing severe gale with sleet and rain over Iceland. The IRCA has warned that driving conditions on heath roads leading from Reykjavík will become difficult. By now it seems we have been receiving severe weather and notices of road closures due to storm every single day for several weeks.

But the Icelandic Meteorological Office is now assuring us that today's storm is the last, for now.

The weather forecast from the IMO, which usually includes a section analyzing the forecast and long term weather outlook titled Thoughts from the meteorologist, ends with this welcome conclusion:

Today's storm is the last we see in the weather maps, for now. It looks like high pressure areas will dominate the waters around Iceland for the next few weeks, bringing calmer weather and less rain.
