Today will be a wet and cloudy day. The southern regions will see a thick cloud and some rain or sleet, with strengthening easterly winds along the coast. It will remain mostly dry in the north. Temperatures ranging between -2 to 8 degrees Celsius (28 to 46 Fahrenheit), coldest in the north.

Friday: Heavy rain in the south, west and southeast with coastal gales along the south coast. Clearing in the Westfjords and the north by noon with drier conditions and sunny spells. Warmer temperatures, especially in the south. Maximum temperature 6 degrees Celsius (43 Fahrenheit) in the Vestmannaeyjar islands.

Road conditions in the south are favourable. Slick roads are reported in the west with Brattabrekka and Holtavörðuheiði roads being exceptionally icy. Þröskuldar and Steingrímsfjarðarheiði in Strandir region are also poor due to ice. Most roads in north and east Iceland are extremely icy.

Motorists are advised to show caution when driving on slick roads, keep your distance and allow more time to brake.
