Three Italian travellers were injured in a serious car accident on Snæfellsnes peninsula in W. Iceland on Sunday. The three were airlifted to the National University Hospital by a helicopter from the Coast Guard. All three are being treated for their injuries, the local newspaper Morgunblaðið reports. One of the three, a woman, remains in critical, but stable condition.

According to Morgunblaðið the accident took place near the town of Stykkishólmur on the northern shore of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in W. Iceland shortly after three in the afternoon on Sunday. The travellers lost control of their vehicle, which then rolled over. Police and paramedics who responded to the accident called out a helicopter from the Coast Guard which flew the driver and two passengers to Reykjavík.
All three passengers suffered serious injuries in the accident, Morgunblaðið reports. One, a woman, is still in critical condition.
