Fashion designer Guðmundur Jörundsson teamed up with outdoor clothing brand 66 North to create a limited edition three-piece capsule collection. The collection, called Jöræfi Prima, will be debuted in 66 North’s store at Bankastræti, downtown Reykjavík, at 5 pm today.

According to Fréttablaðið newspaper the idea of a partnership came from Guðmundur and his team a little over a year ago. Initially, the intention was to create a more extensive collection for 66 North, but after meeting with the outdoor brand’s design team they decided to focus on a smaller three-piece capsule collection that includes a jacket, a hat and a waterproof bag.

“Looking back, I’m glad we took this path. Creating a whole collection of such technical clothing would have been nothing short of madness,” remarks the designer.

Guðmundur has been dubbed the ‘wunderkind’ of Icelandic fashion. He established his brand, Jör by Guðmundur Jörundsson, in October 2012, focusing solely on men’s wear in the beginning. He launched his first women’s collection at Reykjavík Fashion Festival in 2013. According to the designer, his priority is to produce beautifully tailored, quality clothing from quality fabrics.
