Travel conditions in South and West Iceland are deteriorating fast warns The Icelandic Met Office (IMO). This morning strong winds have swept cars of Reykjanesbraut, the highway connecting Keflavík International Airport and the capital area, and according to The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration there is a blizzard raging along the south coast.
The weather will worsen later today. We recommend people avoid driving between towns and villages in the south and west today. Instead enjoy the day wherever you are located. It can be quite fun to dress well and experience the weather on foot in inhabited areas.
