If you plan to spend some time outside this weekend you should get out your thick jacket and thermal underwear beacause temperatures are expected to plunge around Iceland.

According to the Icelandic Met Office (IMO) the mercury drops below zero degrees Celsius (32 F) throughout the country during the Thursday night and stay there at least until Monday, even reaching double negative numbers over the weekend  … Brrr

IMO’s forecast

Friday Northeast wind 8-13 m/s (29-47 kmh, 18-29 mph), snow or snowshowers around the country in the morning, but mostly dry in the south part by afternoon. Temperature -1 to -10 C (30-14 F).

Saturday North 10 to 18 m/s (36-64 kmh, 22-40 mph) and snow or snowshowers, strongest wind in the northeast coast. Lighter wind and dry and fair in the south. Temperarture -3- to -12 C (28-10 F).

Sunday North 8 to 15 m/s (29-53 kmh, 18-34 mph) and snow or snowshowers in Westfjords and north part, lighter and mainly dry elsewhere. Temperature well below zero C (32 F) around the country.
