Having been battered by the remains of tropical hurricane Nicole during the week we can expect much calmer weather during the weekend according to The Icelandic Met Office (IMO). But you should not leave home without your rain-gear. It will be mostly wet and windy, as can indeed be expect during the autumn and early winter in Iceland. The temperature will however be unseasonably warm.
IMO’s forecast
Friday: Southeast 8-15 m/s (18-34 mph/29-54 kmh), but 13-18 m/s (29-40 mph/47-65 km/h) in the southwest for a while by morning. Rain in the south and west but partly cloudy and mostly dry in the northeast. Decreasing wind tonight. Temperature 6 to 14 degrees C (43-57 F) warmest in the north.
Saturday: Unchanged from Friday except stronger wind for a while in the morning.
Sunday: Southerly wind 5-10 m/s (11-22 mph/18-36 km/h) and rain, but mainly dry in the northeast. Temperature 7 to 13 degrees C (45-55 F) warmest in the northeast.
