The atmosphere in Reykjavík this afternoon is a little bit like in Blade Runner. Not the futuristic cityscape-part, but weather-wise. It’s grey and the rain is pouring down. Let’s hope that all the moments of those wandering around the capital wil not be “lost in time like tears in rain,” as replicant Roy Batty (portraited by Rutger Hauer) says in his memorable monologue in the final scene of Ridley Scott’s film.
According to The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) we can thankfully expect a slightly less wet weekend and calmer wind than the severe gale that tore over the country on Friday morning
Saturday
West and southwest 10-18 m/s (22-40 mph/36-65 km/h), windiest in the southeast and on northern headlands. Showers of rain or sleet, clearing in the east by afternoon.
Temperatures 0 to 5 Celsius (32-41 F). Lighter south wind and starting to rain in the south tomorrow evening.
Sunday: South- and southwest 13-18 m/s (29-40 mph/47-65 km/h) and rain, especially in the south and west.
Temperature 5 to 10 degrees Celsius (41-50 F). Increasing wind with showers of rain or sleet in the evening, clearing in the east and becoming colder.
