Last night was the first completely dark night of the fall in Reykjavík. It was officially night in Reykjavík for 46 minutes, with no sunlight in the sky.

According to the Icelandic Met Office, last night sunset, that is the time when the edge of the sun disappears below the horizon, was at twenty minutes to nine in the evening, but dusk was at four minutes past one in the morning. Between sunset and dusk the sun remains close enough below the horizon for sunshine to illuminate the sky with twilight. Night lasted only 46 minutes, as dawn came at 1:50 in the morning with sunrise at quarter past six in the morning.

The first proper night of this fall reminds us that now the days will only get shorter until December 22, when the capital will get just over four hours of sunshine.
