The people of Ísajörður town can now expect to enjoy some rays of sun again after a two months break. The town is located in a deep fjord in Iceland's Westfjords and surrounded by high mountains. Around November 24th every year the sun stops rising high enough on the sky to shine over the mountains and does not return until around January 24th.

As in every year the inhabitants of Ísafjörður celebrated the reappearance with a special party called “sun coffee” (sólarkaffi). And although the sun did not manage to break through the heavy snow clouds, just knowing about it again, above the mountains was a cause for celebration.
