The sub-glacial eruption is in Dyngjujökull outlet, a part of Bárðarbunga volcano system in Vatnajökull 1338

Scientists of the Icelandic Met Office and the University of Iceland have reported that a small subglacial lava-eruption has begun under the Dyngjujökull outlet, which is a part of Bárðarbunga volcano system in Vatnajökull glacier. See map below.

The aviation color code for the Bárðarbunga volcano has been changed from orange to red. At 14.04 (2.04pm), an earthquake, estimated at magnitude of 4.5 was detected. It is belived it marked the beginning of the eruption.

Bárðarbunga webcams are located at Vaðalda peak in the central highlands, just north of Vatnajökull glacier and at at Grímsvötn caldera. The distance to Bárðarbunga from Vaðalda is approximately 60 km (37 mi). This webcam is owned by telecomunications company Míla. The view over the volcano is to the southwest.

The other Bárðarbunga volcano webcam is located at Grímsvötn caldera on Vatnajökull glacier, 30 km away from Bárðarbunga, with a view to the north.
